Swallows Class went back in time to September 1939! We came from London to the little village of Dennington, to be evacuated! We used evidence form our school's log book from the time for some interesting details about how Evacuees felt about this experience. We listened to Chamberlain's war announcement in the Church and write postcards home to our families. We then walked (with kind permission) to the pill box to explore how that would have been used in WWII. In the afternoon we did some cooking, using recipes from the time. The children look a little sad in the pictures but this was to try to be authentic- we had a great day!
